Collector interest

A Pandemic and LucasArts sandbox action-adventure in a destructible war zone, a military playground praised for its chaotic freedom. Printed widely, it stays accessible and lightly priced. Its collector interest lies in its status as a liked precursor of the military sandbox from a now-dormant license rather than manufacturing scarcity.

Is Mercenaries still worth playing in 2026?

Released in 2005, Pandemic's open world places a mercenary inside a fantasised Korea on the edge of conflict. Large scale building destruction, the bounty contract system and the tactical freedom between vehicles, air strikes and on foot combat make it a singular experience. The driving has aged a touch and the runtime can stretch a little. Stays one of the most inventive destructible sandboxes of its era. Recommended today for fans of military sandbox games and for nostalgics of Pandemic's golden generation of action releases before its absorption into the Electronic Arts machine.
