Fifth Metal Slug with a return to SNK Playmore. Creativity returns with more varied levels and more inventive bosses. Graphically improved over the 4th entry. Not at the level of 3 but a welcome return to SNK quality for frantic run-and-gun fans.

Description
An SNK Playmore console edition released in 2003-2005 (Korea, US, Europe, Australia, Japan), a port of the arcade Metal Slug 5. SNK Playmore takes the reins again, with jungle and desert stages and a new slide-evasion system. Shorter than the previous entries but brisker, and a quality return after the fourth game.

Is Metal Slug 5 still worth playing in 2026?

A run and gun from SNK, Metal Slug 5 extends the cult series with new horizontal scrolling levels of unbridled intensity, where you gun down hordes of enemies, pilot varied vehicles and face colossal bosses in a riot of pixelated animation of exemplary quality. The snappiness of the action, the refinement of the hand drawn animation and the arcade spirit appeal to fans of the genre and arcade nostalgics. The high difficulty stays faithful to the series' spirit. For a fan of run and gun or an arcade nostalgic, the title keeps a perfectly preserved intensity and charm.
