Sixth Metal Slug, PS2 exclusive before the shift to compilations. The roster is enriched with KOF characters and levels offer new ideas. Overall quality is good even if the series shows signs of routine. A solid entry for loyal SNK run-and-gun fans.

Is Metal Slug 6 still worth playing in 2026?

A run and gun from SNK, Metal Slug 6 enriches the series' formula with new playable characters with their own abilities and a refined weapon system, where you cross horizontal scrolling levels gunning down hordes of enemies in the characteristic riot of pixelated animation. The gameplay novelties, the refinement of the hand drawn animation and the arcade spirit appeal to fans of the genre and arcade nostalgics. The high difficulty stays faithful to the series' spirit. For a fan of run and gun or an arcade nostalgic, the title keeps a perfectly preserved intensity and charm.
