Moscow metro tunnels plunged into darkness, torchlight and a devastated surface: the Russian post-apocalypse distils an oppression of rare density. The grain of the image and the claustrophobic atmosphere reinforce the tension. This visual direction, dark and immersive, masterfully serves the survival.
In the Moscow metro turned humanity's last refuge, a ranger hunts the last of the creatures men believed to be enemies. Adapted from a novel, the tale combines suffocating survival, faction warfare and a fragile glimmer of hope. Its oppressive atmosphere and humanist point make it a singularly written FPS.
Is Metro - Last Light still worth playing in 2026?
A post apocalyptic FPS from 4A Games, Metro Last Light extends Artyom's odyssey through the tunnels of a ravaged Moscow metro, blending infiltration, survival, resource management and tense shooting in an oppressive mood. The richness of the world, the mature writing and the constant tension between light and darkness make it a striking immersive experience. The sometimes slow pace and the linearity divide some. An excellent atmospheric FPS for fans of immersive survival and dark science fiction.
