An enriched version of the first entry, it multiplies the creature variations. To the known monsters are added their subspecies, taken from the same skeleton but clad in a new livery: a wyvern usually red appears in midnight blue or acid green, signaling at a glance a more fearsome beast. The art direction makes this parade of hues a system in its own right, where the color of a scale announces the danger it holds.
In taking up the first entry, this version sounds the musical bedrock of the whole series. It is here that the template is fixed: grand heroic orchestra married to ethnic flutes and world percussion, for a blend at once epic and organic that fits the idea of a hunt in the wild. Every later episode will inherit this formula, so that one hears here, in its founding state, the musical identity of Monster Hunter.

An action game from Capcom, Monster Hunter G is the augmented version of the hunting series' first entry, enriched with new monsters, tougher quests and adjustments that deepen the tracking of giant creatures, solo or cooperatively, in long, demanding clashes. The increased richness of the bestiary, the satisfaction of the methodical hunt and the pleasure of cooperation appeal to fans of the genre. The rough handling and the end of the online servers bound the experience today. For a fan of monster hunting or of the series' beginnings, the title keeps a preserved demand and richness, in a dated edition.
