Wii port of Monster Hunter G, expanded version of the first Monster Hunter on PS2. Four-player local team hunting, heavy arsenal management, carving and crafting. Simpler and less polished than the later Tri, but solid base to discover the saga. No Western online, local four-player needs four Wiis. For curious fans of the franchise origins.

Collector interest

An enhanced Wii version of Monster Hunter, a Japan exclusive released before the franchise's worldwide explosion. Its collector interest lies in its place as a milestone in the series' home-console history, at a time when Capcom was still experimenting with the format, and in a run confined to the Japanese market alone. Sought by Monster Hunter fans tracing the saga's steps before its international success.

Memorable bosses

Here, each great beast is a boss in its own right, studied like a wild animal: its movements, signs of exhaustion and attack windows are read over long hunts. The fearsome Lagiacrus, a sea dragon introduced here, even forces you to fight underwater. Far from brute force, these battles reward preparation, observation and perseverance, for a hunting thrill all their own.

Is Monster Hunter G still worth playing in 2026?

An expanded version of Capcom's monster hunter on Wii, Monster Hunter G transposes the hunt in hostile terrain where you track gigantic creatures, harvest their materials and forge ever more powerful equipment. The satisfaction of progression, the depth of combat and the joy of cooperation stay the heart of the experience. The absence of online networking on this version, the period stiffness and the Japan exclusivity weigh. A demanding hunting game for fans of the Monster Hunter saga and methodical progression.
