Collector interest

The 2017 entry of Visual Concepts' basketball, one of the last of the series issued on PS3 before it was dropped in favor of recent consoles only. Its collector interest stays low: a dated, abundant annual game, mainly of note as a twilight release of the franchise on the machine. A nostalgia piece for fans of virtual basketball at the end of the PS3 cycle.

Better with friends

Basketball of remarkable fluidity, cut out for four-player evenings where you swing the ball around and chase the buzzer-beating bucket. The competition lives on tempo, spectacular blocks and trash talk after a well-earned dunk, in a rivalry as technical as it is convivial. Easy to fire up for a quick game, it turns every matchup into a pride duel and a memory machine.

Is NBA 2K17 still worth playing in 2026?

NBA 2K17 is among the last great NBA 2K games released on PS3, with Paul George on the cover and a gameplay still of great finesse. The simulation keeps the rightness of movement, the collective intelligence and the depth of modes that built the series' reputation, the undethroned basketball benchmark on console. The polished presentation and the hearty content sustain the immersion. On an end-of-life PS3, the version logically shows its age against the next-generation editions. Like any annual entry, its online side has gone dark. But in solo, for the basketball fan, the title remains a first-rate simulation.
