Is NBA Live 98 still worth playing in 2026?

NBA Live 98 closes out the series on a console already past its prime, and it shows. EA pushes the hardware to deliver the 1997-98 rosters and a few tweaks, but the result feels dated next to the PlayStation and Saturn versions of the same year. It is best left to sixteen-bit basketball diehards, those completing a collection or chasing a specific lineup. The fun still surfaces in multiplayer, yet it never competes with modern standards or even its contemporaries.
