Night Striker adapts the Taito pseudo 3D arcade shoot to Mega CD with its futuristic vehicle on neon lit roads. The version uses the CD format for Zuntata CD soundtrack and cinematics. Excellent for Taito fans, visual reference of 16 bit CD shoot.

Collector interest

Night Striker, Taito's futuristic sci-fi rail shooter ported to Mega-CD, a careful conversion of an arcade classic with heady perspective. Its collector interest lies in Taito's prestige and an edition covering Japan and Korea, sought by rail-shooting fans after the disc version. This Japan-and-Korea edition adds, through its Korean presence on a confidential market, a sought layer of regional rarity.

Is Night Striker still worth playing in 2026?

A Mega-CD port of Taito's shooter, Night Striker blends futuristic driving and shooting in an into-the-horizon view, aboard a flying vehicle crossing a stylized night city. The neon aesthetic, the sense of speed and the branching routes keep an appealing retro-futurist character, supported by the CD soundtrack. The gameplay stays repetitive and the length short. A curiosity for fans of offbeat arcade shooters and nostalgics of 1980s neon aesthetics.
