Shinobi sequel on PS2 with a female kunoichi protagonist instead of the traditional male ninja. Stealth combat and ninja techniques are satisfying. A good Shinobi complement for PS2 ninja genre fans, offering a female perspective in the same universe.

Description
An Overworks and Sega stealth action game released in 2003 (Europe, US), a spiritual successor to PS2 Shinobi by the same teams. Hibana, a young kunoichi, tracks down Akujiki demons across contemporary Tokyo. Aerial combat and kill chain systems, a dark aesthetic. More accessible than its older sibling, and solid.

Is Nightshade still worth playing in 2026?

An action game from Sega and Overworks, Nightshade extends the Shinobi world on PS2, having you play an agile ninja chaining sword executions and acrobatic moves, in a combo mechanic linked by tight timing under threat of seeing your blade burn out. The snappy pace, the sharp visual style and the demanding chains appeal to fans of pure action. The fearsome difficulty and the repetition weigh. A demanding ninja action for fans of stylish combat and old fashioned challenge.
