El Padrino is a surprisingly faithful open-world take on the film. Fifties New York oozes mood, the missions wobble at times, yet the trip stays gripping.

Is Padrino, El still worth playing in 2026?

An open world action game from Electronic Arts adapted from Coppola's film, The Godfather plunges the player into 1940s New York where they climb the mafia ranks, between shootouts, business extortion and neighbourhood takeovers. The fidelity to the film's mood, the original character voices and the freedom of approach are winning. The stiff driving and gunplay, along with a dated PS2 production, have aged. A criminal open world to recommend for fans of the Godfather and open world mafia ascent.
