Collector interest

A sequel that pushes the pre-rendered relief and roller-coaster staging further, extending the first's visual charm with more scope. Still common in the West, it owes its interest to the continuity of a small, well-liked platformer series rather than scarcity. An accessible piece for anyone wanting to complete the diptych on the console.

Is Pandemonium 2 still worth playing in 2026?

Released in 1997 on PS1, Crystal Dynamics' sequel refines the original's formula by widening the movement palette and developing the staging. Fargus and Nikki gain a real combat identity, the levels play with three dimensional perspective and the soundtrack gains coherence. The handling stays readable and the difficulty curve forgiving. The rail bound camera still shows its limits and some transitions visibly load. Recommended today for families, for PS1 platforming nostalgics and for Crystal Dynamics fans curious about the studio's most expressive platformer signature before its long Tomb Raider era.
