Pandemonium! is an original Crystal Dynamics 2.5D platformer featuring Nikki and Fargus in a colorful fantasy world. Scrolling through a 3D space while maintaining 2D gameplay is ingenious. Accessible and visually appealing. An overlooked but charming niche PS1 platformer.

Collector interest

A 2.5D platformer praised for its pre-rendered relief backdrops and a duo of heroes with distinct abilities, one of the notable platformers of the console's early days. Still common in the West, its interest lies in this period visual charm rather than scarcity. An affordable piece for fans of colorful platformers from the first PlayStation wave.

Is Pandemonium! still worth playing in 2026?

Released in 1996 on PS1, Toys for Bob's project offers a hybrid platformer where two dimensional action unfolds along fixed paths inside three dimensional backdrops. The duality between Fargus the jester and Nikki the budding witch installs a real identity, and the gallery of settings grows steadily wilder. The handling stays readable and the difficulty curve forgiving. The camera locked on a rail shows its limits today. Recommended today for families, for nostalgics of PS1 platforming and for fans of Toys for Bob curious about the studio before Skylanders defined its later identity.
