Collector interest

A heavily hunted late-life Japanese release. Compile and Sega graft Pengo's cast onto the Puyo Puyo engine, an unexpected crossing of two Sega franchises. Its January 1995 launch, as the Japanese Mega Drive was fading in favour of the Saturn, explains a tiny print run. The steep valuations reflect that late scarcity far more than the renown of the gameplay, which stays obscure outside Japan.
