A PS1 FPS by Lobotomy Software, Powerslave (Exhumed in Europe) remains one of the console's most technically accomplished shooters, with its Slave engine and clever vertical level design. The US version is underrated and only belatedly recognised by retro-FPS fans. Genuine underlying demand that exceeds mere scarcity, carried by its growing reputation and ancient-Egypt setting.

Is Powerslave still worth playing in 2026?

A FPS from Lobotomy Software set in a haunted ancient Egypt, Powerslave sends the hero through cursed temples and catacombs to defeat the entity Kilmaat. The maze like level design with Metroid style progression, the powers to acquire and the heavy atmosphere set this first person shooter apart from its contemporaries. The period handling and the rudimentary 3D have aged. An original, atmospheric exploration FPS for fans of retro shooting and hunters of overlooked gems on PlayStation.
