Is Primal Rage still worth playing in 2026?

A port of Atari's fighting game, Primal Rage pits dinosaurs and giant creatures worshipped as gods in prehistoric arenas, with animation from stop motion figurine capture. The wacky concept and the bloody Fatalities are its whole appeal, but the Mega Drive version makes major technical sacrifices against the cabinet, with a trimmed roster and lesser fluidity. The novelty remains. For a fan of retro fighting games or someone curious about this prehistoric curiosity, the title keeps an appeal above all nostalgic.
