Game Boy adaptation of the original Prince of Persia. Mechner's rotoscoped animation surprisingly preserved for the machine, deadly traps, hourglass running down. Shorter than the DOS PoP but the challenge is intact. Readability sometimes confusing in monochrome, yet a respected adventure-game classic faithfully adapted.

Is Prince of Persia still worth playing in 2026?

Prince of Persia adapts Jordan Mechner's classic to Game Boy, famous for its rotoscoped movement of then-unheard-of realism and its deadly traps to clear against the clock. The conversion preserves the demand and the millimetric precision of the jumps, which still call for patience and memorization. The slow pace and steep difficulty can put off players today, but the pleasure of mastery remains. For fans of demanding retro platformers and of video game history, it is a notable landmark.
