The Master System adaptation of Jordan Mechner's classic is remarkably well done. The fluid rotoscoped animations still impress and the traps and puzzles demand the same precision and patience as always.

Is Prince of Persia still worth playing in 2026?

A port of Jordan Mechner's masterpiece, Prince of Persia moves a hero with rotoscoped animation of a realism unheard of for its time, through a trap laden palace he must cross in an hour to save the princess. The precision of jumps, the reading of traps and the sword fights demand rigour and anticipation, in a tense, elegant experience. The 8 bit conversion restores the fluidity and the atmosphere remarkably. For a demanding platforming fan, someone curious about a founding classic or a collector, the title keeps an intact elegance and challenge.
