The Prinnys head back for Etna's stolen lingerie, and it's even harder and richer than the first. NIS America polishes levels and bosses, adds bonus gear and new modes; a hardcore sequel genuinely delightful.

Everything is hand-drawn and animated frame by frame: the demon penguin takes up a good share of the screen height, its scarf flapping out of step with its jumps, and its death sets off a red curling explosion that leaves a halo on the ground. Every boss gets outsized poses worthy of a comics page.
The register is garage punk: two-chord guitars, drums that bludgeon and shouted choral refrains, all at a tempo that never comes down. The tracks last exactly one level and end in an abrupt cut, just like the attempts the difficulty keeps ending.

Collector interest
The Western sequel to the Disgaea spin-off where you play the Prinny penguins in a fiendishly hard Nippon Ichi platformer. Made in low volume by a niche publisher, its appeal lies in this restricted Western distribution and attachment to the Disgaea universe rather than mass demand. A target for collectors of tough platformers and the Nippon Ichi house.
An underrated gem
This sequel refines the punishing penguin-demon platformer with more varied levels, memorable bosses, and a more polished presentation, without easing off its fearsome difficulty. Its goofy humor and niche kept it far from the spotlight. More generous and better balanced, it will delight fans of tough 2D challenges.
Is Prinny 2 - Dawn of Operation Panties, Dood! still worth playing in 2026?
Prinny 2 - Dawn of Operation Panties, Dood!, known in Japan as Prinny 2 - Tokkou Yuugi! Akatsuki no Pants Daisakusen ssu!!, sends the Prinnies to recover Etna's stolen lingerie, even harder and richer than the first. NIS America polishes levels and bosses, bonus equipment and new modes for a successful hardcore sequel. A genuinely excellent detour today for punitive 2D platformer and Disgaea fans.
