Collector interest

Pro Evolution Soccer 5, a Konami football simulation reputed in its day for the finesse of its on-pitch play, long preferred by purists over its rival. Extremely widespread and now dated by its expired rosters, its collector interest is low, the value of an annual sports game eroding fast. A mainly functional piece, of nostalgic reach for fans of period football gaming.

Better with friends

Football of a simulation finesse rarely matched, where the multiplayer duel reaches an almost physical intensity. The competition plays out to the millimeter in build-up, pressing and timing, every action weighing on the outcome of a breathless match. Deep and superbly balanced, it forges legendary rivalries and turns every game into a tug-of-war whose decider you replay endlessly among enthusiasts.

Is Pro Evolution Soccer 5 still worth playing in 2026?

Released in 2005 on Xbox, Konami's entry consolidates what was then the absolute reference of football video games. The feel of the ball, the reading of space and the intelligence of teammates set a benchmark the competition would take years to approach. The Master League mode keeps a surprising appeal thanks to its economic progression and recruiting. The licences still missing force the player to manually recreate official competitions. Recommended today for fans of authorial football simulation and for nostalgics of Konami Tokyo's golden creative period on the original Xbox console hardware.
