Story

The bulk of the graphic work goes into the interruptions. Every attack suspends the tactical map and triggers a two-dimensional sequence filling the whole screen, with chains drawn frame by frame, framing that follows the bodies and damage figures streaming past. Those parentheses, several seconds long and triggered hundreds of times, are the real show of the game.

Is Project X Zone 2 - Brave New World still worth playing in 2026?

A sequel to Bandai Namco's tactical crossover, Project X Zone 2 fixes part of the first game's flaws by speeding up the pace, varying objectives and adding guests from Nintendo. The combat system gains clarity and punch, and the combos remain a visual treat for anyone who knows the gathered licences. Repetition still lurks over time, but the whole is more digestible. For a crossover fan or a lover of laid back, spectacular tactics, this sequel stays the most accomplished of the series on the console.
