The character portraits, drawn in a fine line and coloured in muted tones, match that gradual desaturation, and the beauty of the game lies precisely in that organised fading.
From the pen of Yoko Shimomura, orchestral themes laced with ethnic textures and percussion accompany the jumps between two timelines. Melancholy melodies and heroic flights underline the weight of Stocke's choices. This inspired score, deep and nuanced, remains one of the unsung treasures of the JRPG.
