Description
Ready 2 Rumble boxers clash in this enriched Japanese version of Midway's Dreamcast boxing game. Published by Midway, released in Japan in November 2000. Arcade boxing game with colourful characters and new champions, explosive Rumble punches, off-beat humour. Japanese edition.
Japanese edition of Midway's arcade boxing, saddled with an exuberant local subtitle, and by far the rarest of the whole line. The Western Dreamcast thrived on arcade sport, but baseball and American boxing had little audience in Japan: the local print was therefore tiny, the opposite of the mountains of PAL and NTSC-U copies. Its collector interest comes from that contrast, the Japanese sleeve and scant distribution making it the coveted variant of a title otherwise common elsewhere.
Is Ready 2 Rumble Boxing - Uchikome Warai no Megaton Punch!! still worth playing in 2026?
Midway's emblematic arcade boxing, Ready 2 Rumble bets on cartoonish boxers, devastating special moves and a hyped up announcer rather than realism. The snappy pace, clarity and immediate fun make it a safe bet in the versus, especially in twos. The system gains depth with the Rumble gauge and combos. The tech has aged, but the fun stays intact. For a fan of unashamed arcade sport or someone nostalgic for the great Dreamcast era, the title keeps a fearsome energy.
