A soldier rescue light-gun game best experienced with Sega's Phaser. Excellent use of the accessory with tense and rewarding action. Without the Phaser it loses much of its appeal. One of the best Phaser titles.

Is Rescue Mission still worth playing in 2026?

A light gun shooting game from Sega, Rescue Mission puts the player in a helicopter tasked with protecting and evacuating wounded soldiers from enemy camps, gunning down attackers with the Light Phaser. The tense rhythm of the rescues, the on rail shooting phases and the war mood give a likeable character to an experience built for the peripheral. Without a gun, the interest shrinks sharply. For a retro light gun fan, someone curious about Sega accessories or a collector, the title keeps a direct arcade pleasure and a well balanced tension.
