Outbreak File 2 extends the experiment with five new scenarios. More variety, reworked levels and still-terrifying infected. A generous follow-up to an underrated PS2 project.

Description
A Capcom sequel released in 2004 (Europe, US), the second and final entry in the Outbreak sub-series. Five new scenarios in an expanded Raccoon City, more playable civilian characters and an improved solo mode for those without an online connection. More ambitious than the first in content, but the same cooperative formula.

File 2 extends Capcom's online experiment with new scenarios, yet its US NTSC release is markedly scarcer than the first game, having shipped in smaller numbers after the lukewarm reception of the online play. The high loose price reflects a genuine shortage of complete copies rather than a mere sealed premium. Sought to finish the North American Outbreak diptych, it costs considerably more to land than File 1.

Is Resident Evil - Outbreak - File 2 still worth playing in 2026?

A survival horror game from Capcom, Resident Evil - Outbreak - File 2 extends the online cooperative experience of Raccoon City with new scenarios, locations and creatures, where ordinary survivors try to escape the epidemic by managing resources, infection and mutual aid between teammates. The enrichment of the scenarios, the horror atmosphere faithful to the series and the cooperative dimension appeal to fans of the genre. The end of the online servers and a dated artificial intelligence bound the experience today. For a survival horror fan or a Resident Evil fan, the title keeps a preserved atmosphere and tension, in a dated edition.
