Motorbike racing with brawling - a memorable concept with an honourable Master System execution. The chain-whacking arcade violence is intact. Slightly below 16-bit versions but still fun.

Is Road Rash still worth playing in 2026?

An adaptation of Electronic Arts' muscular motorcycle racing game, Road Rash blends speed and brawling by letting the player strike opponents with kicks, fists or a chain during races. The blend of snappy riding and road violence, punctuated by police chases, gives an unbuttoned tone all its own. The 8 bit conversion loses fluidity against the 16 bit versions, but keeps the roguish spirit. For a retro arcade racing fan, a series fan or someone curious about an offbeat concept, the title keeps a raw energy and a cheeky pleasure.
