Collector interest

The Japanese version of a classic Mega Man ported to PlayStation under its original name Rockman, in a careful reissue aimed at series fans. This native edition appeals to those wanting the title in its original language, distinct from the Western releases. Its interest lies in this local run and attachment to Capcom's blue hero rather than great scarcity.

Memorable bosses

It all starts here: six Robot Masters to beat in any order you like, each yielding a weapon that fells the next. With no slide or charge shot, rigor is the rule, and the dreaded Yellow Devil stands as a legendary wall to learn. This founding strategic loop, demanding yet crystal-clear, defined the art of the platform boss fight for decades.

Is Rockman still worth playing in 2026?

Released in 1999 on PS1 as part of the Rockman Complete Works line, Capcom's project delivers the PlayStation version of the very first 1987 Mega Man, augmented with a Navi mode that guides newcomers. The two dimensional action platformer keeps a perfect readability, and the boss system with interchangeable powers stays one of the genre's finest schools. The high difficulty remains the signature. The modelling is necessarily dated. Recommended today for fans of demanding action platforming, for Capcom devotees and for PS1 collectors fond of Rockman archaeology on Sony's first home console hardware.
