SD Valis is the super-deformed Japanese spin-off of Telenet/Renovation's Valis series, released in Japan alone in January 1992 with heroine Yuko in chibi form. A niche import by nature: a cute parody of a franchise itself cult among fans of 16-bit Japanese action. The scarcity of complete copies with spine card and of sealed examples stems from the domestic exclusivity and limited run of a spin-off, not a major standing.
