The fifth volume of the series translates the 1989 beat-'em-up into three dimensions. The arcade's flat sprites become polygonal models under a free camera, but the studio strives to preserve the original feel, the same combos, the same fire-breathing mounts. All the interest lies in this tension between the technical overhaul and fidelity to the arcade rhythm.

A 3D remake by 3D Ages of Sega's heroic fantasy beat 'em up, this volume replays the adventure of Golden Axe with its three avenging heroes, its fire-breathing mounts and its journey to Death Adder, in settings reworked in 3D. The cooperative catharsis, the devastating magic and the arcade spirit stay enjoyable in two player. The short structure, the slightly stiff handling and the Japan exclusivity weigh on it. A likeable reworking for fans of retro beat 'em ups and of the Sega legacy.
