Description
Western name of Sengoku Basara, released in 2005 by Capcom. An unhinged hack-and-slash set in a feudal Japan styled to absurdity, where warlords pull off spectacular combos against hundreds of foes. The Western localization sanded down most of the original game's historical color.

A frantic action game from Capcom, Sengoku Basara offers a supercharged, stylised reading of the Sengoku era, where charismatic heroes mow down hordes of enemies with outsized moves and an assumed sense of spectacle. Snappier and more flamboyant than classic musou, the title bets everything on flair, staging and immediate fun. The repetition and a certain lack of depth weigh on it. A good action game for fans of stylish catharsis and a pop reading of feudal Japanese history.
