From the New World moves the saga to 1920s America. Lighter in tone yet faithful to the Shadow Hearts spirit. Less essential, but a sincere third entry.

Collector interest

The Japanese Premium Box edition of Shadow Hearts From the New World, a collector set of the final entry gathering goodies and a refined presentation for fans of the saga. Its appeal lies in this limited first-run packaging, rarer than the plain edition, and the prestige of accompanying the conclusion of a beloved series. A clear target for Japanese collectors of the franchise.

An underrated gem

This third adventure leaves Europe for 1920s America, with a younger cast and a lighter tone that split the saga's faithful. Released at the very end, it went largely unnoticed. Its still-gripping Judgment Ring and offbeat pulp atmosphere will delight fans of RPGs that don't take themselves too seriously.

Is Shadow Hearts - From the New World still worth playing in 2026?

Released in 2006 on PS2, Nautilus' project closes the Shadow Hearts trilogy by moving its world to the America of the nineteen twenties, with a teenage hero and a tone a little lighter than its predecessors. The Judgment Ring, the series' emblematic timing wheel, remains at the heart of an original and rewarding combat system. The blend of occult, adventure and offbeat humour keeps its singular charm, carried by a gallery of eccentric characters. The production and the pace show their age. An endearing and little known Japanese RPG, recommended for fans of the genre and for followers of the saga curious about its conclusion.
