Large, finely animated sprites, a spellbinding dance and colourful Oriental settings: WayForward unfolds all its 2D know-how. Shantae's expressiveness and the life of the villages spill beyond the frame. This graphic generosity, lively and warm, perpetuates the series' dazzling style.

Official Limited Run Games restoration of Shantae Advance Risky Revolution, whose WayForward development had been halted in 2002 before being reactivated and published on a fully compatible GBA cartridge more than twenty years later. That heritage resurrection makes it one of the latest officially validated GBA cartridge releases, with a worldwide Limited Run Games edition including a collector rigid case. A piece already historically loaded at purchase and immediately scarce on the secondary market.
An underrated gem
Canceled back in the day then resurrected decades later, this lost Shantae blends platforming, transformations, and world rotation with WayForward's craftsmanship. Its ghost-game status long reduced it to an unreachable legend. Now playable, it stands as a recovered treasure for lovers of pixel art and adventure.
Is Shantae Advance - Risky Revolution still worth playing in 2026?
Cancelled in the GBA era, the Shantae Advance adventure finally saw the light of day as Risky Revolution thanks to Limited Run and WayForward, after years of reconstruction. The result is surprisingly cohesive, mixing the usual platform adventure with vertical scrolling sequences and a rotation puzzle that clearly echoes the lost ambitions of the original project. The cartridge is a precious historical object and a fine companion to the recent Shantae games, recommended to dedicated fans.
