Shinobi with real actors in FMV, a Saturn-era curiosity. Classic ninja gameplay but the video sequences are more kitsch than memorable. The game itself remains decent. More a period document than an essential.

Shinobi Legions is the American version of Shin Shinobiden, Sega's ninja action game on Saturn built around sprites digitized from live actors. The Western conversion altered the soundtrack and some elements from the Japanese original, making it a distinct variant sought by Shinobi series fans who compare regional editions. Its NTSC value stays moderate, the title being less rare than other US Saturn action games but supported by the franchise's recognition.

Is Shinobi Legions still worth playing in 2026?

A Sega ninja action game, this Shinobi on Saturn, known as Shin Shinobiden, Shinobi Legions and Shinobi-X depending on the region, has ninja Sho cross varied enemy environments with sword and shinobi techniques, with live-action cutscenes typical of the era. The shinobi spirit, the pace and the mood keep a certain character, despite stiff handling and dated choices. A curiosity for fans of retro ninja action and nostalgics of the Shinobi series.
