Siren 2 continues the Japanese horror with even sharper sightjacking. An isolated island, terrifying creatures and a depressive mood. More accessible than the first, just as unsettling.

Story
"Captivating"
An isolated island battered by rain, heavy mists and disturbing creatures: the sequel refines its horror realism with heightened mastery. The worked-over light and the anxiety-inducing framing extend a diffuse terror. This visual direction, dense and morbid, confirms an uncompromising horror signature.

Collector interest

A more ambitious sequel to Toyama's survival horror, Siren 2 extends the dread and the sightjacking while never releasing in North America, making it a grail for English-speaking fans. Its Japanese and Asian runs feed lasting demand. Its interest lies in this absence of a North American version as much as in its cult status.

An underrated gem

This sequel revisits sightjacking in an even more oppressive island confinement, peopled by nightmarish creatures. Never released in the United States, it remained one of the console's most obscure horror productions. Still as gruelling, it speaks to seasoned horror fans after no-compromise terror.

Is Siren 2 still worth playing in 2026?

Released in 2006 on PS2 and kept out of North America, Sony's project extends the terrifying formula of the first Siren while softening it slightly to make it more accessible. The Sightjack, which lets you see through the eyes of the creatures to anticipate their movements, stays at the heart of a harrowing stealth on an isolated, cursed island. The Japanese horror atmosphere, the fragmented story and the sound staging keep a rare intensity. The difficulty remains high and the controls dated. An ambitious and little known sequel, recommended for fans of demanding horror and of psychological tension.
