Aerial combat sim adapted from Mamoru Oshii's animated film Sky Crawlers. Teen Kildren pilots wage nostalgic aerial wars in retro-futuristic biplanes. Nunchuk+Wiimote controls for flying, narrative missions interspersed with peaceful sequences. Melancholic anime art direction, Kenji Kawai OST. More narrative than typical of the genre, contemplative experience. Underrated, deserves anime aviation fan recognition.

Is Sky Crawlers - Innocent Aces still worth playing in 2026?

An aerial combat game from Project Aces drawn from the animated film The Sky Crawlers, Innocent Aces has you pilot propeller fighters in acrobatic duels carried by a system of special manoeuvres triggered with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. The exhilarating flight feel, the cinematic staging and the melancholy mood of the work win over genre fans. The demanding motion control and a measured content temper the whole. A good game for fans of arcade aerial combat, polished staging and Mamoru Oshii's world on Wii.
