Williams' TV show arena shoot'em up on NES. Closed arenas, countless enemies, prizes to collect. Difficult and frantic. Excellent in co-op. An overlooked genre classic worth rediscovering.

Is Smash T.V. still worth playing in 2026?

An adaptation of the Acclaim arcade arena game, Smash T.V. plunges the player into a dystopian game show where you must survive surging waves of enemies by firing in all directions to win money and prizes. The dual stick system, the constant frenzy and the deluge of enemies and bonuses make it an orgy of snappy action, fearsome in co-op. The frantic pace never lets up. For a retro twin stick shooter fan, someone curious about an arcade classic or a player after stress relief, the title keeps an intact intensity and fun.
