Climax dresses its action role-playing game in bold colours and very dense scenery: red-roofed villages, flowered plains, sunken temples, caves with glistening walls. The animal companions, each with its own silhouette and gait, follow the hero on screen and change the way he crosses the world.
The soundtrack alternates bright travelling themes and graver pieces underground, with melodic writing that favours singing lines over effects of power. Each region receives its own colour, and the motifs tied to the companions return discreetly in the arrangements.
Soleil PAL is the European edition of the Nextech/Sega game, an isometric action-RPG. Its collector value is very high: the Soleil naming is specific to the European market (Crusader of Centy in the United States, Shin Changsegi Ragnacenty in Korea), and the PAL version remains one of the most highly rated Megadrive RPG cartridges in Europe.
An underrated gem
Often compared to Zelda, this action-RPG hides a touching idea: talking with animals to earn abilities and see the world differently. Its multiple regional titles muddied its identity and held back its renown. Colorful, clever and deeper than it looks, it will charm those who love heartfelt adventures on the Mega Drive.

An action RPG by Nextech, Crusader of Centy offers a heroic adventure where young Corona crosses the world to understand the war between humans and monsters. The gameplay recalls Zelda with an original system of animal companions of distinct powers. The adorable art direction, the catchy soundtrack and the more mature than expected story make this title an overlooked gem. For anyone fond of 16 bit Zelda likes or original action RPGs, a warm recommendation today still without any hesitation on Mega Drive truly here indeed for any newcomer.
