Fun
"From the very first seconds"
Tearing along at full pelt, hurtling down loops and bouncing from spring to spring: the blue hedgehog's speed finds a colourful, smooth expression on the Game Gear. The levels brim with secret passages and alternate paths that invite you to explore as much as to sprint. Energetic and generous, an excellent portable Sonic, perfect to savour in stages.
Addictiveness
"Obsessive"
Launching the hedgehog at full speed, digging out a secret passage then darting toward the next emerald forms a loop of momentum that makes you start over to go faster. The levels teem with shortcuts and bonuses that reward twitchy exploration. The handheld level design sometimes lacks readability at high speed, but the joy of the run keeps all its drive.

Collector interest

Sonic Chaos, a portable platformer in which Sonic and Tails counter Dr Robotnik, released in North America. An emblematic entry in the mascot's Game Gear line, it was widely pressed and stays easy to find. Its collecting interest stays moderate, but benefits from Sonic's universal aura and comparison with its differently titled Japanese version, Sonic & Tails.
