Sonic with Super Mario Galaxy-inspired gameplay but its own identity. Original cylindrical levels, colorful atmosphere. Uneven in execution: some brilliant levels, others frustrating. Best Sonic on WiiU but far from perfect.

A Sonic Team platformer, Sonic Lost World attempts a new direction for the hedgehog, with tube like level runs and a more controlled speed, inspired by certain Nintendo classics. The colourful art direction, the inventive worlds and a few level design ideas win through. The ambiguous handling, between speed and precise platforming, and an uneven difficulty curve divide fans. A platformer apart for Sonic fans curious about experimentation and players after an atypical platformer on Wii U.
