Sonic on a hoverboard with weird physics. So-so glide feel, confusing tracks, and a poorly explained air system. A forgettable spin-off despite a couple of decent boost ideas.

Description
Futuristic Sonic racing on gravity-defying boards. Published by Sega, released in March 2006. Over a dozen characters from the saga, customisable air-boards, drift and grind mechanics and four-player split-screen multiplayer. Worldwide release.
Released in 2006, this Sega racer swaps running for futuristic boards, in an extreme gliding spirit fitting for Sonic. Managing compressed air, turns and shortcuts demands a learning curve that rewards mastery. The dynamic art direction and the sustained speed give it a particular signature. The demanding handling and a sometimes messy readability put people off at first, yet fans of arcade racing and of Sonic find a snappy experience that opens up with practice.
