Dazzling colours, looping scenery and heady speed: Sonic imposes a pop visual identity of perfect readability, since become legendary. The roundness of the sprites and the vividness of the hues overflow with energy. This art direction, joyful and polished, defines the golden age of the Sega platformer and hasn't aged a day.
Still signed by Masato Nakamura, the melodies of Chemical Plant and Emerald Hill push the pop, rousing energy of the first game even further. The music sticks to the unbridled speed of the Sonic-Tails duo with an irresistible punch. This melodic generosity, lively and sunny, makes it one of the console's sonic peaks.
