Wii version of Sonic Unleashed (Sonic World Adventure), day/night split gameplay. By day, Sonic runs fast through 3D/2D mixed levels across seven themed continents. By night, Sonic the Werehog fights slowly with stretchy arms beat-em-up style. Wii version technically lighter than HD but more stable. Seven international hubs to explore. Mixed on the night beat-em-up that slows pace, but daytime shines.

Is Sonic World Adventure still worth playing in 2026?

An action platformer from Sonic Team, Sonic Unleashed, released in Japan as Sonic World Adventure, alternates ultra fast daytime boost phases, faithful to the hedgehog's spirit, with nighttime phases where Sonic turns into a werewolf for beat 'em up combat. The exhilarating speed of the day levels and the beauty of the settings are winning. The slower, repetitive night phases strongly divide fans. A game for Sonic fans after speed, provided you accept the uneven pace on Wii.
