Soulcalibur V tightens the roster and quickens the pace with a snappy Critical Edge system. The narrative is thinner but the combat gains technical clarity, and the 360 stays a great venue for an iteration that favours precision over the baroque excesses of the fourth entry.

Is Soulcalibur V still worth playing in 2026?

A weapon based fighting game from Project Soul, Soulcalibur V carries on the eight direction series with a snappier system, a remarkably rich character creator and a cast renewed by a seventeen year time jump. The fluidity of the clashes, the depth of the system and the freedom to create fighters win over versus fans. A disappointing story mode and a roster shorn of historic figures divide. An excellent fighting game for fans of weapon duels and deep customisation.
