Neversoft's Spider-Man, a solid action title that lays down the formula's foundations. Webslinging across building façades, varied super-villain fights and comic-book faithfulness. The N64 engine pales next to PS1, the fog ruins the web-swinging between skyscrapers, but the experience stays honest and fan-friendly.

Neversoft's Spider-Man in NTSC-USA edition, released in early 2001 as the N64 entered its final months. A port of the PlayStation game, this version suffers technically (fog, curtailed building-to-building swinging), yet its N64 run was shorter than on the rival console, hence a complete value above the PS1 equivalent. Demand is fed by character fans and late N64 collecting, the action staying solid and faithful to the comics.

Is Spider-Man still worth playing in 2026?

An action game from Activision, Spider-Man has the hero move between New York skyscrapers by web swinging to fight a gallery of supervillains from the comics. The web travel mechanic, the combat and the light stealth carry an adventure faithful to the Marvel spirit, backed by well measured humour. The camera and the production show their age. For a Spider-Man fan or a fan of retro licensed action adventure, the title keeps a definite charm and a real ambition for its time.
