Namco embraces the imagery of B-movie horror: seeping corridors, hanging flesh, monsters made of badly assembled limbs. The white-masked hero stands out through his massive silhouette and unmoving face, the only bright surface on a screen dominated by dark reds and putrid greens.
The accompaniment bets on grating sonorities and irregular rhythms that prevent any comfortable settling: dissonant strings, metallic percussion, sudden silences before an enemy appears. Few melodies to remember, but a continuous tension maintained from the first room to the last.

Splatterhouse 2 PAL is the European edition of the Namco game, the sequel to the Namco arcade horror ported to Megadrive. Its collector value comes from the fact that it is one of the rare gore horror games officially released in box in Europe at the time (the PEGI rating did not yet exist) and that the cartridge remains one of the most singular Namco horror productions.
A questionable morality
To save his girlfriend, the hero agrees to don an evil mask that multiplies his strength in exchange for a certain say over his mind, then sets off to pulp hordes of creatures across hemoglobin-soaked sets. Love justifies everything, it seems, even a shady pact with a possessed artifact and a pronounced taste for carnage, owned without a flinch.
Is Splatterhouse 2 still worth playing in 2026?
A direct sequel to the famous Namco horror beat'em up, Splatterhouse 2 offers a macabre adventure where Rick the masked hero faces nightmarish creatures to save his fiancée Jennifer.
