Handed to Namco, this entry reached Europe in early 2005 as the GameCube slid into its twilight and PAL runs tightened. The mix of external development and a late release gives a shorter-than-average European pressing, onto which the loyal Star Fox following concentrates its demand. On-foot multiplayer and the return of the Arwing sustain steady desirability, both boxed and shrink-wrapped.
Is Star Fox - Assault still worth playing in 2026?
Released in 2005, this Namco developed entry extends Nintendo's space saga by alternating Arwing flight, Landmaster tank driving and on foot phases. The aerial sequences, faithful to the series spirit, remain the most successful, with snappy staging and an endearing crew. The ground sections divide more and the solo mode stays short. Local multiplayer adds real extra fun. Fans of rail shooting and of Fox McCloud find a spectacular adventure still enjoyable to fire up today.
