Strider 2 is the direct and modernized sequel to the Capcom classic on PS1. Hiryu returns in a larger acrobatic action adventure with striking pre-calculated 3D graphics. Sharp and precise gameplay, varied levels. An excellent and overlooked niche action game on PS1.

Collector interest

A late sequel to Capcom's action game starring the ninja Hiryu, praised for its acrobatic movement and frantic pace, released at the console's very end of life. Its modest Western runs make it a markedly sought piece among 2D action fans. Its concrete scarcity and status as the awaited return of a cult license support a high value on the market.

Is Strider 2 still worth playing in 2026?

Released in 2000 on PS1, Capcom's project extends the Strider Hiryuu lineage in a vertical and dazzling action platformer. The feel of jumps, the use of the Cypher blade and the oversized bosses keep a pronounced arcade flavour. The art direction blends cyberpunk settings and fantasised architectures with real coherence. The 2D on 3D modelling ages with its charm, but the single player runtime stays short. Recommended today for fans of nervous 2D action, for Capcom devotees and for PS1 collectors curious about the late and dazzling sequel to the Hiryuu classic on Sony's first home console hardware globally.
