The edition that introduced the series outside Japan lines up one hundred and eight portraits drawn one by one, imperial uniforms recognisable at a glance and towns with weathered rooftiles. The army battles play out in fixed tableaux like a war room map, and the headquarters visibly fills with furniture, shops and faces.
Miki Higashino sets her opening theme running from the title screen, then alternates tavern tunes, war marches and very short duel pieces cut for the tension of a verbal standoff. The instrumentation blends ethnic percussion, plucked strings and discreet brass, and the castle earns its own variation as it grows.
Forced to betray his father's empire to join the rebellion, a young hero gathers a hundred and eight fates into a political fresco of surprising maturity. War, loyalty and agonising choices carry real weight here. This epic ambition, rare on the console, laid the foundations of a cult saga.
