Capcom puzzle game with SF and Darkstalkers characters in chibi form. Dropping colored gems and exploding them: simple, deep, formidably fun. Particularly excellent versus mode. One of Saturn's best puzzle games.

Story
"Anecdotal"
Super-deformed versions of Capcom's heroes, round heads and dazzling colours: the game transposes the fighting into a chibi aesthetic full of humour. The roundness of the sprites and the vividness of the effects overflow with charm. This visual direction, joyful and polished, delights well beyond versus fans.

Collector interest

American NTSC-U edition of Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo on Saturn, released by Capcom of America in 1996, a conversion of the Capcom puzzle game with a super deformed roster mixing Street Fighter Alpha and Darkstalkers. Arriving as the Saturn was declining in the United States, this version had a tight print run, which makes it markedly less common than the Japanese pressings. The game's charm and its real scarcity on the US market make it a target for Capcom completists and American Saturn collectors, in clean complete condition.

Better with friends

A joyful versus puzzler where chibi fighting heroes sling gems to align and trigger devastating counterattacks. The competition blends quick thinking and timing sense, each combo firing back blocks that swamp the opponent in one go. Readable and snappy, it sparks spectacular reversals and restarts in seconds for an instant rematch.

Is Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo still worth playing in 2026?

A chibi spin off of the Street Fighter and Darkstalkers sagas by Capcom, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo offers a competitive puzzle where blocks stack and burst in cascades depending on the diamonds placed strategically. Chains and defensive combos create real tactical depth. Short but tremendously replayable, the title keeps a timeless charm and remains an excellent competitive puzzle on Saturn. For anyone seeking an accessible yet deep challenge, an absolutely essential recommendation today still truly here indeed for any newcomer fan now.
