Description
A Banpresto tactical game released in 2007, the Original Generations Super Robot Taisen franchise entry in Japan and Korea. Different from the main entries: uses only original mecha created by Banpresto for the franchise (Cybuster, Alteisen, Weissritter), without third-party anime licenses. Turn-based tactical combat, self-referential narrative, HD overhaul. More accessible to fans who don't know all mecha anime.

Story
"Captivating"
This entry replays on PS2 two Game Boy Advance games devoted to the house mechs alone, Cybuster, Alteisen, Weissritter. The visual stake is promotion: the small handheld sprites are fully redrawn into large attack animations, as lavish as those once reserved for the licensed stars. Banpresto's robots reach the big format at last, with the spectacular staging of a true console game.

Bringing together the saga's original heroes, this entry unfolds a vast turn-based campaign devoted entirely to its own robots. Developing your pilots, fine-tuning your mechs and unlocking the hidden content fills long hours. That density, true to the series, earns the title a stubborn reputation as a generous tactical RPG.

Collector interest

Super Robot Taisen Original Generations, which gathers the characters and mechas created for the series, free of outside licenses, in a reworked compilation. Its interest lies in this status as a showcase of the franchise's in-house universe and its Japanese and Korean distribution rather than scarcity. A piece sought by SRW fans attached to the Original Generations.

Is Super Robot Taisen OG - Original Generations still worth playing in 2026?

A tactical RPG from Banpresto, Super Robot Taisen OG Original Generations gathers the saga's original robots and characters, freed from anime licences, in a reworked compilation of the early Original Generation entries. The spotlight on the in house universe, the superb attack animations and the tactical depth win over series faithful. The Japanese text and the length close off access. An excellent tactical RPG for fans of the Japanese genre and of the original Super Robot Taisen universe.
